The right Ignition for every application
Classic Ignition
The Classic Ignition contains the proven and recognised electrical components from the original manufacturer VAPE. The Fanwheel and stator holder are made of cast aluminium. We pass on the favourable manufacturing price of the cast parts and offer the Classic Ignition from VAPE at the lowest entry-level price. The fan blades are Suspension Arm like on the PX200 Engines and the ignition timing is static with "Road" CDI.
Road Ignition
With static ignition timing and CNC Flywheel. The most popular VAPE ignition and the first choice for converting away from a breaker ignition. As with original Piaggio systems, the ignition timing always remains reliably the same regardless of the engine speed.
Sport Ignition
With variable ignition timing and CNC Flywheel. The Ignition adjusts continuously: At low engine speeds, more early ignition ensures higher torque; in the resonance range, the early ignition is reduced. As a result, the Engine runs cooler and the usable speed range is extended upwards. The exact adjustment range is shown in the instructions using a diagram.
By the way: The black anodised "Black Edition" Fanwheels are also available individually in our shop.
Touring Ignition
Two ignition curves in one Ignition! "Road" and "Sport" - that means: both variable and static ignition timing, switchable when installed. This is made possible by the two-part combination of Ignition Coil and control unit. The adjustment range of the variable ignition curve is limited to 8° and works particularly well with many engine set-ups. Also included in the scope of delivery: CNC Flywheel and CNC Stator Plate.
Race Ignition
With freely programmable ignition timing, CNC Flywheel and USB connection. 16 pre-programmed curves can be called up and additional ignition curves can be freely programmed if required. The control unit has four DIP switches on the top that can be used to select the stored curves. The software for creating and transferring your own ignition curves is available for download via QR code.
Alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC)?
The SIP-VAPE Ignition is available in direct current and alternating current versions. The Lighting Coils are always the same; an AC Ignition can be converted into a DC Ignition - and vice versa - by replacing the Voltage Regulator.
AC: The most common variant is the AC version for all models without a Battery. Here, the alternating current generated by the alternator is simply limited and stabilised by a Voltage Regulator. Simple Connection, no Battery - no maintenance required.
DC: If you are connecting a SIP speedometer and other digital consumers or need a high charging current for the Battery, you should choose the direct current (DC) version. When using the DC version, the current from the alternator is used entirely to charge the battery; from there, it supplies the on-board electrical system with smooth, powerful battery voltage - regardless of whether the Engine is running or not. For the DC variants, there are details to consider in combination with SIP Rev Counters or for PX Models with combined ignition or Steering Lock (see Mounting Instruction).
AC and DC: We offer the R54 regulator for special applications. It has an AC and a DC output. Batteries should not be selected larger than 5 Ah. Important: The two AC contacts of the input and output must be bridged so that the voltage remains stable when the load fluctuates.
AC for Vespa T5: Special regulator for controlling the original Rev Counter of the Vespa T5 models. Integrated electronics halve the speed signal.
Fanwheels
The original SIP Performance VAPE Ignition comes with a silver, CNC-machined Flywheel with a look reminiscent of the original PX125-150 fans.
Some like it black - that's why the Black Edition is available with a black anodised CNC Flywheel. It goes perfectly with other black anodised components and looks much sportier than the silver version.
The SIP Performance VAPE Ignition is also available without a Fanwheel for Wideframe Models. This means that the original Fanwheel can continue to be used and the classic look remains virtually unchanged.
The moulded Fanwheel of the Classic Ignition has curved blades and is visually inspired by the P200 Flywheels. A corresponding version for Smallframe and a variant with Elestart Gear Ring are also available.
SIP also offers a Hi-Flow Fanwheel for smallframe Vespas and an extra-lightweight largeframe fan as a race version, also suitable for BFA-306 Engines.
Original look for Electronic Unit and Ignition Coil
Minimal installation effort and virtually indistinguishable from the original: the Classic series regulators and CDI units.
Whether Rectifier for direct current or Voltage Regulator for alternating current - SIP offers the right electronic component for both variants, cast in a ribbed aluminium housing that looks confusingly similar to the original. The mounting is 100% identical to the original and enables quick and easy replacement.
Static and variable ignition timing - as with the "Road" and "Sport" SIP performance ignitions by VAPE - now also in the original look and therefore really plug & play and can be fitted in just a few minutes. The Electronic Unit or Ignition Coil (CDI) in the black Casing offers variable ignition timing, the blue CDI provides a static constant ignition timing ("Road").
