A Reed Valve Petals is required to control the gas flow in the intake system. It works like a Check Valve: During intake, it opens and allows the fuel-air mixture to flow into the crankcase. As soon as the Piston moves downwards and generates pressure, the Reed Valve Petals locks and prevents the mixture from flowing back.

You should replace a Reed Valve Petals if the following signs occur:

• Poor starting or loss of power, especially at low engine speeds.
• Unsteady engine running or jerky driving behavior.
• Increased fuel consumption, often combined with an exhaust smell.
• Damage such as cracks, fractures or frayed edges on the Dies, which become visible on removal.

It is generally advisable to check the Reed Valve Petals every few thousand kilometers (approx. 8,000-10,000 km) as part of regular maintenance or at every engine service.
