The Vespa 150 VBB was the direct successor to the Vespa 150 VBA. The biggest technical difference was the 4-speed gearbox. Visually, the most noticeable changes compared to the Vespa 150 VBA were the now split mudguard with seam and decorative edging on the side, the omission of the Control Light between the fin and the speedometer and, from frame number 71001, the aluminium trim strips on the Side Panels Trim.
A direct current horn was used on the VBB1T, while the VBB2T had an alternating current buzzer. The clamshell speedometer went up to 100 km/h, similar to the VBA, and was illuminated.
The rear end of the VBB2T's frame was square-shaped to support the number plate. The factory seat option was a dark blue Single Saddle, similar to that of the VNB, but a Seat could be purchased at extra cost. The seats of the GS 160 or the Sprint also fitted well.
The Vespa 150 was characterised by chrome Bad ges on the Legshield and a Piaggio emblem made of transparent plastic ("Europlast"). Over the course of the model years, the Wheel Hub and Drum Brake Seating Bolts changed from M8 to M10, with the wheel nuts coming either with or without a collar.
The frame number was stamped on the frame edge below the left side cheek. In addition, an aluminium Legshield Trim adorned the Legshield. The Handlebar, moulded with a decorative fin in the front area and chrome-plated Light Switch, was similar to that of the VBA. The Gear Tube had the same dimensions as on the VBA, but the VBB Handlebar also had the 4th gear engraved on it, as the VBA only had 3 gears.
As on the VBA, there were 19 Balls in the lower steering tube bearing, and the rubber pad on the centre tunnel was attached with stainless steel strips fitting to the Frame. The Floor Runners consisted of three parts and a rubber mat.
This version was identical to the previous one, except that the Carburettor was a Dellorto SI20/17C, which was later replaced in the middle of production by the SI20/17D from frame number 31001.
