Custom Creation: Lambretta Cut-Down

Created by Dietrich Limper at 09:05 on June 25, 2026

In our “Custom Creation” series, Gegio from SCOOTERISMO.IT is back on the road as a special correspondent for SIP SCOOTERSHOP. At the Motor Bike Expo, he met Luca Panon, who was presenting his latest creation at the “Iron Kings International” custom show: a radical Lambretta cut-down in British old-school style.

The base was a 150cc Lambretta that had been gathering dust in an attic and was actually destined for the scrap heap. Instead, it ended up in Luca’s workshop. During lockdown, together with his crew, the Barbieri de’ Rorai, the idea took shape to cut the bodywork down without compromise and build a truly one-of-a-kind machine from it.

From an attic find to a custom scooter

Many details reveal just how much personal effort has gone into this project: the Rear Light comes from a YAMAHA R1 and dictated the shape of the rear end. The rear mudguard, the Harley-style side number plate, the folding Foot Pegs made from hexagonal tubing and the glove compartment fashioned from two pots all make this Lambretta a truly special conversion.

A great deal of technical work has also gone into the project. The rear Shock Absorber comes from an R1, but has been adapted to the scooter’s lower weight with a softer Spring. The Tank has been enlarged, the filler neck moved forwards and fitted with a DUCATI Tank Cap. Added to this are a modified Handlebar with a GPS Speedometer, a classic PM-TUNING exhaust system and a Disc Brake based on PIAGGIO Zip components.

Lots of ideas and details

In conversation with Gegio, Luca explains many details right there on the scooter – from the eye-catching Pikenuts to the extended front end of the DL. Parts from SIP SCOOTERSHOP have also been fitted, including the SIP rim and the stand. Luca sums up his enthusiasm quite clearly: as a scooter fan, whenever you visit the SIP website, you’ll keep discovering new, fantastic parts.

So if you’d like to see how a forgotten Lambretta was transformed into a radical British cut-down with an Italian touch, you should watch the video. In it, Luca shows off his creation in detail and explains the ideas, friends and parts behind this special custom project.

The full interview with Luca Panon and all the details about the Lambretta can be found in the accompanying video.
