Overview TRIUMPH

The TRIUMPH company was founded by Siegfried Bettmann and Moritz Schulte, German merchants who emigrated to Great Britain at the end of the 19th century. Siegfried Bettmann traded in sewing machines and bicycles imported from Germany. This prompted Schulte to co-produce high-quality bicycles of his own brand. The collaboration between the entrepreneurs began in 1887 with the founding of the "Triumph Cycle Company". In 1889, the first bicycles produced under the TRIUMPH brand name were presented in the English city of Coventry. At the end of the 19th century, the idea of switching from a simple bicycle to a bicycle with an Engine was actively developed in the world, and the history of the development of a motorbike began. A new-fangled vehicle became increasingly popular, and in 1898 the company, then known as "The New Triumph Co." Ltd, began to develop motorbikes based on Belgian motorbikes.

In 1902, TRIUMPH made its debut on the British market and introduced its first motorbike model, of which 500 were sold in the course of the year. In the following years, Triumph motorbikes were successfully sold domestically and the company expanded production. In 1906, the company was given its final name.

At the turn of the century, technology brought the internal combustion engine to the world, and engineers and entrepreneurs sought to maximise its applications. In 1907, the first race took place on the Isle of Man and the Triumph motorbike came second. Within a year, the brand took first place in its class. The outstanding performance on the race track prompted the company to add the TT Racer model to its Catalogue as a road motorbike. During the First World War, the company produced around 30,000 motorbikes for the army. The most popular models at the time were the Model H, also known as the Trusty Triumph. They were equipped with a primary chain drive, a 550 cc Engine and a three-speed gearbox.

TRIUMPH model history

The English are known for motorbikes and less for scooters, of which they actually produced a few, but that was a long time ago.
