Andy Francis is the man behind the exhaust systems produced under the name of FRANSPEED. He uses his experience of over forty years racing, fixing and riding Lambretta scooters in the design and production of his range of exhausts. His initial idea was, together with the assistance of the renowned tuning exhaust producer Jim Lomas, to convert proven systems for reliable and legal road use. Since the beginning of this partnership production, the FRANSPEED exhausts have advanced to be amongst the finest aftermarket performance exhaust systems available for Lambrettas.
The FRANSPEED Race is compatible with the 'RB' cylinder exhaust outlet and also the TS 1, Monza and Imola cylinder types. It uses the same holding bracket as all JL produced pipes and the outlet itself is kept gas-tight with O-ring gaskets. The silencer is removable and this allows the fitting of other types, such as the SIP Carbon.
The FRANSPEED Race is amongst the most technically evolved exhaust systems available for tuned Lambretta motors. The production quality and appearance are first class in every respect. The level of sound produced is relatively comfortable, especially when compared similar systems, due to the thicker steel plate used in its construction. Its maximum performance is similar to the JL 'Race', but offers additional power at lower revs along with an even wider power band.
Top quality production/thick steel construction/perfect fit/wide power band
Conclusion: One of the most powerful and highly developed systems in the high-performance league of tuning exhausts!
SIP -TIP: This exhaust deserves the peripheral components that can handle the sort of power it helps create. The carburettor needs to be at least 30mm in diameter, the clutch and the crankshaft should be of the modern type and with it tough and enduring! A crankshaft built in the sixties is just as out of place in the FRANSPEED exhausts vicinity as an outdated four-plate clutch!
