Variator J.COSTA EVO3 for scooters. High-end Variomatic with ceramic coating, strong performance and optimized power development across the entire speed range.
Following the EVO2 version, J.COSTA is launching the EVO3, a high-end Variator that not only impresses with its performance. The materials and build quality also leave nothing to be desired. The differences to the previous version are apparent at first glance: the Variator itself is ceramic-coated to increase service life and minimize frictional forces.
- Ceramic-coated Variator for less friction
- Coated running surfaces of the sliding weights
- More protection against wear
- Optimized power delivery across the entire speed range
The running surfaces of the sliding weights are also coated using this process. This protects both the running surfaces and the weights from high wear. In previous versions, the running surfaces could partially deflect and become oval due to the movement of the sliding pins. This problem is significantly reduced in the EVO3 thanks to the ceramic coating. In addition, the shape of the Variator Cover has been revised to further optimize the power output.
Difference to conventional variators
In the J.COSTA Variomatic, classic Variator Rollers are replaced by sliding weights. These move the Variator in linear tracks. The system is simple but very effective. It is precisely these linear tracks that are the decisive advantage of the J.COSTA system.
Compared to a standard variator, the J.COSTA EVO3 offers a shorter transmission ratio in the lower speed range and therefore better acceleration. At the same time, it enables a longer transmission ratio as soon as the sliding weights have reached their outermost point and the V-Belt Pulley is locked.
Conclusion: The J.COSTA EVO3 consistently develops the already unique variator technology further and impresses with even more power across the entire speed range.
SIP TIP:
- Replace the Belt. Sports clutch and Clutch Bell complete the setup.
Please note:
For the first generation of LML automatic engines with a crankshaft journal width of 40 mm, the J.COSTA Vario with a bushing length of 41.5 mm is required.
For the second generation of LML automatic engines with a crankshaft flange width of 42 mm, the J.COSTA Vario with a 39 mm bushing length is required.
We recommend measuring the length of the original Bush before ordering to ensure you select the correct Vario model.
