Many Shock Absorbers for Vespa Models with separate Spring and Silencer only offer a limited damping function due to their design. Even versions with adjustable compression damping make the chassis noticeably harder, but often do not control the rebound sufficiently. As a result, the Silencer bounces back suddenly after compression.

With the SIP PERFORMANCE Shock Absorber, special attention was paid to a cleanly working rebound stage. It controls the rebound speed and enables smooth, even rebound. This makes the suspension easier to control, especially when braking, without the Silencer springing up abruptly.
Damping takes place via two chambers: a gas chamber and an oil chamber. The casing is made of CNC-machined aluminium and is anodized. The rubbers of the silent blocks are made of polyurethane and are designed for high load capacity.
The Shock Absorbers are available in two hardnesses:
- 60 PSI: for comfortable traveling or racing use
- 100 PSI: for higher rider weights or large payloads
The higher the PSI value, the faster the Silencer rebounds. The right shock absorber spring is therefore crucial. A SIP/STO Spring with +25 to +33 % hardness is recommended.
Fitting instructions:
If the Spring is too weak, the Shock Absorber will push it down. The result is an unnatural angle of the Suspension Arm. In this case, a harder Spring must be installed.

"I ride the Silencer with a hard STO Spring, in my opinion the best suspension in this combination for oldies. I rode the 1,000 km Vespistica with my lamp below (5 mountain passes, 13,500 vertical meters, shitty road conditions, uneven, potholes, etc.) and now have just under 2,000 km under my belt.
