DR opens up the "Doppia" class from 102 ccm: 100% more displacement than 50 ccm and therefore the ideal entry-level model for anyone looking for more power in city traffic and when riding in pairs. The cleanly crafted cast iron cylinder with 6 transfer ports delivers powerful acceleration, but remains an uncomplicated setup. Important for all kits from 102 cc: The primary gear ratio must be changed (recommendation 3.00; 2.86 may already be too long depending on the setup). Due to the large bore and small cylinder diameter, some caution is required thermally; DR relies on black paint for better heat dissipation.

The DR 102 is designed for everyday performance: More displacement brings more torque - exactly where it counts in city traffic and when riding with a pillion. The design of the transfer ports is based on the original, which means that the Crankcase can be adapted depending on its condition, but does not necessarily have to be. For a harmonious setup, the gear ratio change is mandatory so that the Engine does not run "against the wall" or become unnecessarily hot. For longer full throttle passages, more thermal reserve is generally recommended - larger displacement classes are usually the better choice.
