Crankcases for the Lambretta LI, SX, and DL/GP—ranging from reinforced original replacement parts to CNC-machined high-end casings for high-performance tuned engines.
The crankcase forms the foundation of every Lambretta engine. It houses the crankshaft, transmission, and other moving components while also serving as the rear swingarm. Its design plays a key role in determining which cylinders, crankshafts, and tuning concepts are feasible. For the Lambretta LI Series 1–3, SX, and DL/GP, a variety of casings from UNI, CASA PERFORMANCE, GRAN TURISMO, and MMW are therefore available.
- UNI for repairs faithful to the original and sporty engine builds
- CASA PERFORMANCE for large cylinders, Crankshafts, and high-performance complete setups
- GRAN TURISMO for various tuning levels, including large-displacement aftermarket cylinders
- MMW Killer Case for uncompromising CNC technology and SIMONINI setups
UNI – Reinforced Original Replacement
The UNI crankcase is modeled after the original Lambretta 200 casing and can largely replace it directly.
Compared to original casings, various areas are more robustly constructed. This makes the casing particularly suitable for road and sport engines with tuned cylinders mounted on the original stud positions.
CASA PERFORMANCE – Consistently Designed for Performance
The CASA PERFORMANCE crankcase was redesigned for high-performance Lambretta engines. Areas subject to high stress have been reinforced, while the casing also offers more space for larger cylinders, transfer ports, and crankshafts.
A distinctive feature is the center split in the casing, which facilitates crankshaft installation. The casing is part of the CASA PERFORMANCE overall concept, which includes matching cylinders, crankshafts, gearboxes, chain covers, and Clutches.
Many original components can still be used. However, the cylinders and Crankshaft must be specifically compatible with the CASA PERFORMANCE casing.
GRAN TURISMO – from reinforcement of replacement parts up to 400 ccm
GRAN TURISMO casing combines areas of reinforcement with numerous design improvements.
Versions are available as reinforced original replacements with original stud positions and a slightly enlarged cylinder base area. In addition, there are crankcase variants for SIMONINI and ROTAX cylinders with displacements up to approximately 400 ccm.
These versions use larger crankshafts, which is why a corresponding maghousing is required. The fuel-air mixture is fed directly into the crankcase via a diaphragm inlet.
MMW Killer Case – CNC-Machined High-End Solution
The MMW Killer Case, manufactured in Germany, is CNC-machined entirely from solid material and is designed for mounting a SIMONINI light aircraft cylinder.
A crankshaft with a 116 mm connecting rod length is required. The rest of the engine can be built largely using standard Lambretta components.
The intake is located directly above the crankcase and is designed for an RD350 Reed Valve.
Overview of the variants
- UNI: Reinforced original replacement for road and sport engines
- CASA PERFORMANCE: Performance casing for large cylinders and crankshafts
- GRAN TURISMO: From original replacement to large-displacement aftermarket cylinders
- MMW Killer Case: CNC-milled crankcase for SIMONINI cylinders
Conclusion: From a rebuild that closely resembles the original to an extremely high-performance tuned engine, there’s a suitable crankcase for nearly every Lambretta concept.
