Handlebars for Vespa Largeframe Models from the 60s/70s are designed for round or trapezoidal Headlight Units, depending on the model, and their shape is adapted accordingly.
If a Handlebar is broken or damaged, it should be replaced for safety reasons. Various round and trapezoidal Handlebars are available for this purpose. Handlebars of different models can also be interchanged in the large frames - interesting for custom conversions, but also in terms of safety and riding comfort. A technical plus point: clear glass headlights can be installed in the round Handlebars of the Rally/VBB, which provide significantly better light output. Throttle and Gear Tubes (for 4-speed Models) are already pre-assembled on all Handlebars. The digital SIP Speedometer/Rev Counter is also available for all Handlebars.
SIP-TIP:
- It is best to order new Screws for the Steering Head, suitable Plates and the Steering Head Bearing Set at the same time.
Note: Depending on the country and manufacturer, Steering Columns may vary slightly in design. On some Steering Columns, the position of the Steering Head bolt is therefore offset by approximately 2 mm from the recess in the Steering Head. In this case, the recess on the Steering Column must be filed down by approximately 2 mm. The recess for the Speedometer may also vary on replica Handlebars.
Depending on the production batch, the fit must be checked and, if necessary, adjusted. We recommend checking this before painting and making any necessary adjustments.
For all replica handlebars, larger tolerances in the diameter of the head tube mount may occur depending on the production batch. If the diameter is too small, do not force the handlebar onto the head tube, as this may cause cracks. In this case, the seating must be enlarged to the correct size for the steerer tube. If the diameter is too large, there is a risk of breakage if the headset screw is tightened too tightly—exceeding 45 Nm.
Never use excessive force when installing the steering head bolt. In some cases, the primer inside the bolt hole may be thicker than usual.
We inspect 100% of all Steering Heads to ensure they are the correct size and also send them to a specialized German workshop to adjust them to the exact diameter of the PIAGGIO, RMS, and CIF Steering Columns. We carry these Handlebars under the SERIE PRO label.
