Product description
High-quality crankcases from PINASCO, designed as replacements or as a base for tuned engines in Vespa Largeframe models.
PINASCO offers crankcases in various versions for Vespa Largeframe models. They serve as high-quality replacements for original cases and as a sturdy foundation for high-performance touring and high-end engines.
- Reinforcements in areas subject to particularly high stress
- Ample material for porting and intake machining
- Available in Disc Valve, Reed Valve, or SI Reed Valve versions
- Prepared for T5 alternator bearings and electric-start Flywheel Cover
All engine case variants feature ample material in the cylinder overflow port area. This allows the overflow ports to be generously milled without immediately breaking through or compromising the sealing surface. In many cases, tedious welding is no longer necessary.
Additional material has also been provided at the intake. It extends across both engine halves, allowing the intake to be milled centrally over the crankshaft webs. On the clutch side, there is also sufficient material to prevent the material from breaking through during milling.
The die-cast aluminum is of high quality. All necessary milling operations are performed using precise CNC machines. In addition, PINASCO has integrated Reinforcements at typical stress points, including at the Driveshaft Bearing on the gearshift side and in the area of the Shock Absorber Seating.
The casings are designed for electric starters and therefore require electric-start Flywheel Covers. The alternator half is designed for the large, sturdy T5 alternator Bearing and features a lubrication hole. This allows for the replacement of the PX alternator bearing, which often reaches its limits in high-performance engines. Original Stator Plates fit without modification. Additional Bushings ensure precise positioning.
The Rubber Engine Mounting Bushes are made of a harder material and offer greater stability. For the 125cc engines, the Rubber Engine Mounting Bushes from the 200cc models have been adopted. The rest of the design corresponds to the PX engine with an external drive shaft seal, allowing many components to be carried over.
PINASCO Master
The Master casings are the rotary valve variants. Separate lubrication can also be continued with these. They are particularly suitable for anyone who wants to build a powerful rotary valve-based engine concept.
PINASCO Slave
The Slave casings feature a central inlet above the crankshaft webs. This eliminates the option for separate lubrication.
The matching Reed Valve intake manifold, complete with a 4-valve Reed Valve, Stuffer, gaskets, Connecting Piece, and Connecting Rubber, is included in the scope of delivery. The PINASCO Slave 4-valve Reed Valve corresponds in dimensions to the YAMAHA RD350 Reed Valve. With minor modifications, other RD350 Reed Valves will also fit into this Intake Manifold.
The connecting piece to the carburettor consists of an Air Bellow and a Base Plate; it can be rotated 360° and allows for various carburettor positions. It is designed for PHBH 28/30, VHS 24-30, TMX 27/30, and PWK 28/30 carburettors.
PINASCO Smart
The Smart casing is designed for use with an SI carburettor, including the Carburettor Casing. However, a small Reed Valve is installed between the Carburettor Casing and the casing. To make this solution possible, the Smart casing kit is based on the Slave casing.
PINASCO 2.0
The 2.0 version is equipped with a modified Oil Seal. The large crankshaft bearing on the clutch side is fitted to a Plate, allowing it to be replaced from the outside. The bearing seat and Input Shaft have been additionally reinforced.
Engine and gearshift seals, Rubber Engine Mounting Bushs for the Suspension Arm and Shock Absorbers, as well as engine and cylinder studs are included with all casings. Only PINASCO Rubber Engine Mounting Bushs should be used in PINASCO casings, as the diameter of the Seat differs slightly.
Due to the wider Disc Valve, a compatible PINASCO crankshaft—e.g., part no. 45016000 or 45028000—must be installed.
PINASCO Mega 8x
The Mega 8x model is equipped with a larger Reed Valve than the Slave 2.0 version. This Reed Valve size is familiar from ZIRRI, FALC, or CASA PERFORMANCE cylinders.
The package includes a CNC-milled, gold-anodized Intake Manifold for 34-mm Carburettors. Additionally, reinforcement ribs have been added to the bearing seat and Input Shaft. The crankcase is designed with a larger diameter to accommodate oversized crankshafts.
Note: PINASCO uses a tighter bore for the Kickstart Shaft than other manufacturers. Unfortunately, no Kickstart Shafts currently on the market fit there. According to PINASCO, old original PIAGGIO Kickstart Shafts do fit.
Conclusion: A lot of crankcases for little money—this secures the future of powerful touring and high-end scooters.
These products fit perfectly – SIP TIPS:
- Be sure to order the matching Oil Seal Set, bearings, and small parts at the same time. Cover Lips for the Oil Pump and Electric Starter holes are recommended for tuned engines. Don’t forget Gearbox Oil. When ordering the slave casing, be sure to order the matching Carburettor and Air Filter at the same time.
Note: The Disc Valve does not provide a seal with conventional shafts. The inlet here is 16.6 mm wide, while the sealing surface of the Disc Valve on a PX200 shaft is 17 mm. PINASCO states that PINASCO shafts are wide enough to provide a seal here. Their sealing surface is 18 mm wide. Since there is very little lateral tolerance here as well, the alignment of the crankshaft should be carefully checked during installation.
