Electronic ignition systems are frequently fitted to tuned scooters. In combination with racing exhaust systems and racing cylinders, they enable the desired increases in power and revs to be achieved – and it is precisely this that inevitably leads to greater wear and tear across the entire system.

So, if a fan impeller is occasionally damaged or an ignition coil comes loose, the cause is often not a material fault in practice. Rather, common causes include an old crankshaft, worn-out bearings, dirt in the cone, overheating or similar factors that become a problem more quickly at high revs.
