To ensure a smoothly running and reliable engine, a good quality crankshaft is essential. An interesting high quality aftermarket alternative is now being produced by BFA.

The disc-valve crankshafts from BFA are equipped with a relatively long port timing. The cut-out section opens directly above the crankshaft pin and remains open for a total of 142°. An interesting aspect is the design of the disc-valve crank web, which has been gas-flowed. The position where the valve is closed has been specially sculpted to reduce any blowback of unused fuel mixture through the carburettor.

To ensure balance and smooth running the crankshaft is also equipped with additional tungsten weight inserts. The con rod is polished and the clutch side web incorporates a spring for easier fitting, similar to the feature found on the 'Uncle Tom' crankshafts.
