Reserve Tanks in the spare wheel were originally developed as a Replacement Parts for the 150 GS Models. They are now available for open 10" and closed 8" rims. Reserve Tanks are now available in many different versions. These variants are not integrated into the fuel circuit, but serve - similar to a canister - as an additional tank for manual refilling when the fuel level is low.
For those looking for a real reserve tank monster, there are also tanks in the form of Gloveboxes (50 SS/90 SS), "Rally", as a complete spare with a tank capacity of up to 10 liters or as a Sport Seat/Tank combination. These tanks can be connected to the main tank and have a separate Fuel Tap. Depending on the position of the tank, an additional Fuel Pump may be required.
Conclusion: Very useful Replacement Parts on tours - and, depending on the version, also a beautiful design accessory.
SIP TIP:
- Test fit the Tank before painting to be able to carry out any rework without damaging the Paint. Whether primed or oiled: every new tank must be carefully cleaned before use, e.g. with Brake Cleaner.
