Following the merger of SEGWAY and NINEBOT, the company focussed increasingly on environmentally conscious e-mobility solutions. Dean Kamen, the inventor, realised that our world was mainly designed for people who can keep their balance. Together with a team, he developed the "Independence IBOT™ Mobility System", a self-balancing wheelchair that made it possible to move on irregular surfaces and even climb stairs. On the other side was Ninebot, a Beijing-based company dedicated to the development of electric mobility. in 2015, the strengths of both companies came together.
