Together with Baotian, Jinan Qingqi Motorcycle Co., Ltd. is one of the leading motorbike manufacturers in China. The company was founded in 1956 and has its Seat in Jinan, in the province of Shandong, China.
The brand made a name for itself in Germany from 1995 with models such as the "Qingqi Mulan B" and the "Qingqi Classic 2000 E", often referred to as "DIY scooters". These scooters were approved by Daco Engine GmbH and Sat Systems GmbH by means of an individual operating licence. The company also offers replicas of older Kymco models, including models such as the Filly and the Top Boy, which is still in production. One of the prominent brands produced under the Qingqi umbrella is REX. The company's range includes moped and mokick scooters (50 cc, with two-stroke and four-stroke engines), light scooters (125 cc) and quads in classes from 50 to 250 cc.
Since around 2009, most REX brand models have been produced by the manufacturers Shenke (for 50 cc) and Jonway (for 50 cc and 125 cc). Only the RS 500 model was manufactured directly by Jinan Qingqi until 2010.
