Umrüstung auf 13 Zoll vorne & hinten – bei SIP Scootershop
The Vespa GTS rides on 12" tyres - that's good and sporty, but it's also just standard and won't knock anyone's socks off. The conversion to 13" optimises the suspension, which is not only a visual treat, but also a pleasure to ride. The most stress-free conversion is possible with the SIP Rim 13" with ABE and even fits 140 mm Wide Tyres.
These modern Vespas can be converted
Vespa GTS/GTS Super/GTV/GT 60/GT/GT L 125-300 ccm
from 12" to 13" and up to 140 mm width possible. Instead of the standard 130 Tyre, a 140/60-13" tyre can now also be fitted at the rear. It has never been easier to get a conversion to 13" and Wide Tyre on the road legally.
The SIP 13" Rim is the first existing 13" Rim with ABE, which can be ridden on the GTS without any problems. No more legal grey areas, no more arguments with the TÜV inspectors - fit the rims and the legal conversion to 13" is complete.
But that's not all - we even had the Rim homologated with a 140 Wide Tyre on the rear wheel. What does that mean? Quite simply: Instead of the standard 130 Tyre, a 140/60-13" tyre can now be legally fitted at the rear. It has never been easier to get a conversion to 13" and Wide Tyre on the road legally.
Note: Changing the tyre size also changes the gear ratio of the tyres, which ultimately leads to a deviation in the speedometer display. As the original speedometer deviates from the real value by up to 10 %, the deviation is still within the tolerance for 12" rims with 140 Tyres and for 13" rims with max. 140 Tyres. This is actually an advantage, as the larger Tyres bring the speedometer display closer to the real speed.
Which Tyre should I choose?
In addition to the width, the height of the Tyre is also decisive because it influences the gear ratio of the rear tyre. 130/70-10 has almost the same rolling circumference as an original 3.50-10 Tyre, but a 120/90-10 is a whopping 8% longer.
The combination of 100/80-10 at the front and 130/70-10 or 120/90-10 at the rear is popular.
Further decision criteria
Of course, the tyre type must also be considered. Whether classic tyres, all-weather tyres or sports tyres, there is a wide choice here. The load capacity and speed index also play an important role. We recommend our comprehensive Tyre guide.
Customers ask - SIP answers
"Why should I convert my Vespa GTS to 13-inch tyres at all?"
The GTS runs on 12-inch tyres as standard, but by converting to 13" tyres, bumps, bumps etc. on the road are better absorbed. And in our opinion, the set-up torque (i.e. how the vehicle stands up when exiting a bend) is much more agile and pleasant than with 12". This makes cornering a bit more fun.
