KENDA - A rapid ascent
KENDA was founded in 1962 in Yuan-Lin, Taiwan, and initially produced bicycle tyres. Eight years later, the product range was expanded to include motorbike tyres. This also laid the foundations for the development of scooter tyres. In the late 70s and 80s, KENDA also produced for caravans and agricultural vehicles. In 1985, the second factory was opened in Taiwan.
After going public in the early 90s, KENDA expanded unstoppably: More production facilities were opened in China and Vietnam. With the founding of the "American Tire and Wheel Company" and various company takeovers, the US market is conquered. Another milestone is the production of radial tyres for passenger cars in 2001. A good ten years later, KENDA Europe is launched in Germany, and new production facilities are built in Indonesia and Vietnam. In 2010, KENDA ranks 27th among tyre manufacturers worldwide. In 2016, the establishment of the "KENDA Europe Technical Centre", the centre for research and development in Europe, begins in Winsen (Luhe) in Lower Saxony.
