D.R. Racing Parts - The History
Founded in 1975, Diffusione Ricambi started out trading mainly in original parts from Ducati and other major manufacturers. They also produced the first aluminium cylinders as early as the 1970s, albeit at that time for classic old-timer engines such as Guzzi, Minarelli or Morini.
When Piaggio scooters came into fashion for everyday use, D.R. switched over and specialised in the production of cylinder kits and other accessories for the city runabouts. Since then, Diffusione Ricambi has been producing and selling parts for Vespa Smallframes, Ciao and Co. very successfully, not only in Italy but also internationally. Especially grey cast iron cylinders like the D.R. 75 are still popular today for discreet 50 cc street tuning.
Since the 90s, D.R. has increasingly ventured to look beyond the classic market to the scooter market. In the meantime, kits and special parts for Honda and Peugeot scooters are also offered.
When D.R. was finally taken over by Motori Minarelli in 1993, the company brought in a proven smallframe specialist. Together with its sister company Motorparts S.p.A., which manages D.R. sales, the company has established itself in more than 40 countries worldwide.
