Vespa news Intermot Cologne 2016
The Intermot in Cologne opened its doors again and we were there for you to find the hottest news for scooter enthusiasts. The manufacturer VESPA had a large stand in Cologne and presented its model range for 2017. The good old VESPA PX was exhibited here for the last time, unfortunately it has fallen victim to the new Euro 4 standard and has to be discontinued. It's a shame that Vespa couldn't bring itself to develop a revised Engine, we really hate to say goodbye to this scooter legend. But even in Pontedera, it's the Controllers and not the romantics who react and so the new products all relate to the Modern Vespa Models.
The VESPA GTS 300 is coming in 2017 as a special "Touring" model with practical Luggage Carrier and windscreen, but with a new Euro 4 standard Engine that will unfortunately only produce 21.5 HP (0.5 HP less than current Euro 3 Models). The GTS 125 will be fitted with the new"i-Get" engine, which is now also Euro 4 compliant and offers a start-stop system (RISS). The same Engine will also be found in Primavera and Sprint Models in the future. PIAGGIO has done an enormous amount of development work here and, in addition to many other optimisations, every moving component has been elaborately mounted in order to achieve particularly quiet and low-resistance running. The Air Filter has been made quieter and at the same time more permeable, the gearbox tuning improved, water cooler integrated into the engine block for a shorter warm-up phase, new double-sided toothed Belt for minimised friction loss and a new electronic engine control unit. This has a barometric sensor that guarantees optimum combustion chamber filling in any driving situation and at any altitude. The new engine produces 7.9 kW (11 hp) and develops a torque of 10.4 Nm at 6000 rpm. Vespa promises a range of 364km with a tank capacity of 8 litres. We are very excited about a first test ride. Both the Primavera and the Sprint also come with ABS as standard and a USB connection in the Glovebox of the Legshield. The new Vespa Primavera comes in four colours, Rosso Drago (red with beige Seat), Nero Vulcano (black with red Seat), Midnight blue (blue with beige Seat) and Montebianco (white with red Seat). The new Vespa Sprint is also available as a Touring Model with Luggage Carrier and Wind Shield. There is also a Sprint Sport in Titanium grey with decorative stickers and black rims. The new Vespa Primavera comes in the colours Rosso Dragon (red), Nero Lucido (black), Montebianco (white), Giallo Positano (yellow) and Blu Gaiola (blue) - all with black Seat.
