"Kickstart Lever", the custom show for scooters
in the Eternal City, from 28 to 29 September 2024.
Rome, the Italian capital, is always worth a visit for countless reasons. However, there is not often the opportunity to attend a custom show for classic scooters there. The "Eternal City Motorcycle Show" is a large trade fair for motorised two-wheelers. The main component of the event is the custom competition for motorbikes of all types. Both Italian and international top customisers and tuners exhibit their creations here. An unusual but perfect frame for the "Kickstart Lever", a separate custom show for scooters within the "Eternal City Show".

The eighth edition of the motorbike fair in the Eternal City brought the organisers a new visitor record. More than 25,000 visitors found their way to the Roma Convention Centre "La Nuvola". They were attracted by over 300 exhibitors on 30,000 square metres. In addition to the custom show for motorbikes, there was an additional show for American hot rods, a second level with Replacement Parts and clothing dealers and a large selection of culinary specialities. Test rides with the latest models from many motorbike brands were offered on the outdoor area of the grounds. 3.000 visitors took advantage of this and tested the machines.
The scooter exhibition was organised by Gegio from Scooterismo.it. He was supported in the organisation by Scarburati SC and SIR (Scooterclub Italiani Riuniti). More than 20 scooters accepted the invitation to the custom show and were on display on the Kickstart Lever area. There were all kinds of models from Vespa and Lambretta to admire, across many types of customising and tuning. A jury consisting of Sabrina Sclafani (Scarburati SC), Danilo Secli(Kustom World Magazine) and Marcello Parimbelli(Special Senza Marce) selected the three winners. Additional special prizes were awarded by Kustom World magazine, SIP Scootershop and LiquiMoly. Alberto Vicentini secured first place from the jury with the "Stray Runner", a Lambretta Series 1 powered by a water-cooled 265 cc Casa Performance Engine. Second place went to Riccardo Spignese's very elaborate Vespa Smallframe with a DEA Engine. The carbon parts and paintwork were particularly eye-catching. The SIP prize went to the classic, simple SX 200 by Massimo Pianigiani. The look of the 70s racing livery was convincing across the board (see below for the complete list of winners).

Vespa and Lambretta as winners
In addition to the scooter exhibition, there was a supporting programme on the Kickstart Lever area with a DJ, fresh beer and small Italian specialities to keep hunger at bay. Gegio had even set up an exhibition on the culture of Italian scooter boys. Around 150 scooter riders from the Roman and Tuscan scene gathered at the stand over the weekend. On Saturday evening, there was a joint dinner followed by a nighter.
All in all, it was a well-rounded weekend in the Eternal City. Not only were the interesting scooters and their riders worth the trip, it's also always fun to think outside the box. The Eternal City Show was the ideal place for this. The craftsmanship and unusual vehicles that could be marvelled at there will inspire any petrolhead. Many thanks to Gegio and his friends for the invitation!
