Custom Creations: Mantis
Frank "Höppie" Höppner is well-known in the German scooter scene from north to south. Not only has he been running the Stormarn scooter service in Bargfeld-Stegen, north-east of Hamburg, since 2010 and is an active member of the Scytheman Scooter Club Germany, he also shines as a formidable customiser who has already won many awards for his creations. In this instalment of our "Custom Creations" series, he and Jesco present a real eye-catcher: the Lambretta Chopper Mantis.
A mantis more than two metres long
"I spent around two years building this scooter," says Höppie. And he only did that because a mate said to him when he saw a Vespa chopper: "Höppie, you can do better than that, can't you?" A poisonous green praying mantis "Mantis" was born, which is an impressive 2.10 metres long. The basis was a classic Lambretta frame, the rest came from Höppie's imagination and technical craftsmanship. We think: absolutely unique!
We hope that Höppie will keep us in suspense with similar creations in the coming years or perhaps one of his apprentices will make a name for himself in the near future, as they are also busy working on custom projects. "I support young people," says Höppie with conviction and we can only applaud this commitment. Keep it up, Höppie!
