Type Plates for classic Vespa Models - important detail on the frame rail with the central vehicle data.
Type Plates describe the most important vehicle data and are usually riveted to the frame rail. They are available in different versions depending on the model. The chassis number must be entered using punched numbers or an engraving pen. Depending on the Type Plate, the gross vehicle weight rating, the vehicle type and the year of construction must also be added.
Conclusion: TÜV and the police want to see it - the nice icing on the cake on the frame rail.
Notes on the versions:
11040100 - Type Plate Augsburg, square: for all German Models from Augsburg production from 1958 to 1961.
11040000 - Type Plate Augsburg, round edges: for all German Models from Augsburg production from 1962 to 1964. First registrations were also possible until 1967. All German Models from 1958 to 1972 had the small Sign # 1104100 on the Frame.
From 1964, no more scooters were built in Augsburg, but Vespas produced in Italy were modified for the German market, for example with Indicators. These included models such as the GL, Sprint, Vespa S. and V50. From 1968, all models came ready-made from Italy and only received a Type Plate and the final touches before delivery in Germany.
