Simple Riveting Tool in classic shape from SIP SPARE PARTS.
Riveting Floor Runners without a second man: Instead of riveters and hammers, professional Vespa workshops and Screws use the riveting pliers as a special tool.
- One-man operation
- Familiar shape and easy to use
- Spare parts and extensions available
Fitting Floor Runners is an art that should not be underestimated: Fitting the runners neatly and pre-fixing them with grip pliers or screw clamps is the prelude, the actual riveting is the highlight. With the SIP riveting pliers, this can be done easily and alone - there is no need for a second helper to hold the underside of the Floor Board.
The classic shape of the SIP riveting pliers is sufficient for most applications, not only on Vespa and Lambretta. The application is self-explanatory, the design is robust and the service life is designed for many restorations.
Scope of delivery and extensions
The basic equipment includes two print heads: a slim, flat print head for the countersunk rivets in the middle of the Floor Runners and a 6 mm diameter print head for the Floor Runners End Pieces of many vintage Vespas. The counter-holder on the underside of the riveting pliers has the typical waffle pattern, just like the original "ex works" rivets.
Additional pressure pieces are also available to cover almost all riveting work on classic Tin Scooters: small rivet heads for Emblems on the Legshield and Seat, flat large heads for modern Emblems and cast Badges (e.g. Sprint, Rally and PX/PK). Replacement Parts for the classic riveting pliers can also be used with the 2.0 riveting pliers; Replacement Parts and spare parts (e.g. Pressure Rod) are compatible and interchangeable.
Two pressure pieces for the two main applications are included: an extra slim, flat rivet head for the countersunk rivets in the middle of the Floor Runners and a rivet head with a constricted head diameter for the large rivets of the Floor Runners End Pieces. There are also other rivet heads for special applications such as riveting Emblems, Type Plates, seat bench plates etc.
Installation instructions for Floor Runners
- Shorten any protruding Rivets so that a nice rivet head is created on the underside.
- Floor Runners are best tried on before painting, bent to shape and holes drilled if necessary.
- Number perfectly fitted strips for later final assembly (after painting).
- Assembly sequence: from outside to inside.
- The Floor Runners can be fixed perfectly with screw clamps and grip pliers before riveting.
- Small Distance Pieces (e.g. pieces of wood) between the strips ensure perfect parallelism and constant spacing.
Conclusion: Indispensable tool for every full restoration and for repairing typical camber marks on the Floor Board.
We recommend this Pliers - SIP tip:
By swapping out the Rivet Head Adapters, the SIP Riveting Tool can also be used to attach leg plate lettering as well as seat and swingarm plates. This makes the job significantly easier and neater.
There is one Rivet Head Adapter for all badges with molded-in Rivets, as well as a set for all badges on Models up to the VBB/GS160. The set also includes an Adaptor for mounting seat plates.
