Where a 4-stroke engine requires valves, camshafts, an exhaust system, and a turbocharger, a 2-stroke engine needs only an exhaust system. A few steel plates are shaped into a form that harmonizes perfectly with the openings in the Cylinder—the transfer port and the exhaust port. This not only affects the exhaust of spent gases. Touring
The Touring is a high-torque Exhaust that impresses in everyday use with a smooth power band and balanced power delivery. At the same time, it delivers excellent peak power. Its power and torque set the standard in the road and sport tuning sectors. The Touring truly shines when installed on an engine with the right setup: a sufficiently sized carburettor, a diaphragm intake, and a tuned cylinder head with appropriate port cross-sections.
To ensure the Touring performs optimally, the valve timing of the Cylinder used should match the Exhaust layout:
- Intake timing: 124°–130°
- Exhaust timing: 184°–192°
- Exhaust advance: 29°–31°

- Proper ignition and carburetor settings are essential for a smooth and reliable-running engine. Tools such as a Stroboscopic Ignition Timing Lamp or Ignition Timing Degree Disc are available in the shop.
- When it comes to jets, it’s important to prioritize quality and match them to a specific manufacturer’s jets, as some manufacturers have different tolerances. We recommend SIP or KMT jets.
Note: JL Exhausts has been struggling with a sharp rise in material and personnel costs for some time now. Customs duties, bureaucratic hurdles and a shortage of skilled workers are making production even more difficult and expensive. Unfortunately, this will lead to a price increase for all models from 07/2025. We have been able to mitigate the adjustment for the most common racing exhaust systems, but some models will be permanently removed from the range.
The exhaust systems are still manufactured by hand in Europe to the highest quality standards. Low noise development, high durability, a striking racing look thanks to clean weld seams and high-quality materials such as stainless steel continue to speak for these exhaust systems.
