A very high-performance Racing Exhaust from SIP PERFORMANCE with an exceptionally wide, everyday-use RPM range.
Whereas a 4-stroke engine requires valves, camshafts, an exhaust system, and a turbocharger, a 2-stroke engine needs only an exhaust system. A few pieces of steel plate form a shape that harmonizes perfectly with the openings in the Cylinder—the transfer port and the exhaust port. This not only affects the exhaust of spent gases. Through the effects of suction and supercharging, it also determines the inflow of fresh gases. In modern two-stroke engines, the Exhaust system is one of the main reasons for their high performance.
- O-Ring flange, compatible with all standard cylinders
- EGT connection
- Connection for lambda/AF
- Flange plate for the seating of many common silencers
As simple as this system sounds, designing the exhaust correctly is a science in itself. This is where the wheat is quickly separated from the chaff. Truly skilled exhaust builders are rare and often produce only in small quantities. Systems from such tinkerers are almost never inexpensive.
The company NORDSPEED, based near Bremen, enjoys a virtually legendary reputation when it comes to building racing exhaust systems for classic Vespa and Lambretta manual-shift scooters.
SIP and NORDSPEED have decided to collaborate. The result is exhaust systems with a high-performance design, combined with modern features such as O-ring Flanges, EGT, and lambda connections.
Mustang T5
The Mustang strikes a balanced middle ground between high-rpm systems designed for peak power—such as the R2—and pure torque systems. It features a very wide RPM range and delivers very high peak power despite its everyday-friendly power delivery. This makes the Mustang one of the most powerful systems in this market segment.
The Mustang truly shines when installed on an engine that provides the right conditions. These include a generously sized carburettor, a modified intake, and, of course, a tuned cylinder head with larger port cross-sections.
To ensure the Mustang performs optimally, the valve timing of the Cylinder used should match the Exhaust layout:
- Intake timing: 125°–130°
- Exhaust timing: 188°–194°
- Exhaust advance: 30°–32°
Conclusion: The Mustang T5 is the perfect Exhaust for a very powerful everyday engine with a wide rpm range and a balanced mix of torque and power.
SIP TIP:
- Proper ignition and carburetor settings are essential for a smooth and reliable-running Engine. Tools such as a Stroboscopic Ignition Timing Lamp or Ignition Timing Degree Disc are available in the shop. When it comes to jets, it’s important to prioritize quality and match them to a specific manufacturer, as some manufacturers have different tolerances. We recommend SIP or KMT jets.
