Tests have shown that the classic SIP PERFORMANCE Racing Exhaust, when installed on original engines, such as the original PX200 Cylinder with 10/12 PS or the original Rally 180 Cylinder, is quiet enough to be registered in the vehicle documents via a parts certificate.
The parts certificate confirms noise, power, and top speed values. As a result, these measurements—which often cost several hundred euros—do not need to be performed additionally during registration.

The name says it all. For many years, the SIP PERFORMANCE has been one of the most sought-after Racing Exhausts for Vespa Largeframe models. JIM LOMAS, himself an active motorcycle racer in the 1960s, began producing 2-stroke racing exhaust systems in 1979. Due to high demand in England, he soon focused on Vespa and Lambretta systems.
The German Vespa street racer scene was calling for an Exhaust that delivered strong performance, especially in the low and mid-range RPM bands. In 1997, the “SIP PERFORMANCE” was therefore developed in collaboration with SIP: plenty of power from low RPMs, stainless steel, and compatible with wide tires and center stands. Since then, this classic has been refined several times, but unfortunately it has also been poorly copied on many occasions.
Stainless steel, handcrafted, and proven design
The exhaust is handcrafted from stainless steel. This ensures a beautiful appearance and prevents rust. To minimize noise, it features a partially double-walled design.
The exhaust manifold is suspended on both sides by springs. The holder on the Traverse is well-suited to handle the vibrations of the Silencer. An O-Ring gasket between the exhaust manifold, body, and Exhaust Manifold Stub was deliberately omitted, as such a rigid connection can cause an exhaust system to crack more quickly.
Versatile
The SIP PERFORMANCE can be used with standard cylinders as well as with road-tuned or bottom-end-tuned engines. It delivers a sporty performance with the resonator boost typical of two-stroke engines, yet still offers enough pre-resonator power to avoid being annoying on long rides or in city traffic.
The relatively small belly diameter is an advantage, as wide tires and the Centre Stand can continue to be used without restriction. Experienced riders can even install this Exhaust on 8-inch Vespa Models with sufficient ground clearance.
Depending on the rest of the engine setup, the SIP PERFORMANCE can deliver approximately 15–28 PS and a top speed of 105–150 km/h.
Parts Certification
The version with a parts certification significantly simplifies registration on compatible original engines. Of course, testing and registration by the responsible testing authority remain a prerequisite. The certification provides a solid foundation for this and reduces the effort involved compared to time-consuming individual measurements.
JL Warranty
We are confident in the quality of our Exhaust systems. Should an Exhaust nevertheless rupture, it will be repaired or replaced by JIM LOMAS. Damage caused by external impact is excluded. The warranty applies to first owners who purchased the Exhaust from SIP and is valid for three years from the date of purchase.

SIP TIP:
- Check the rear axle nut and Brake Pads during installation. On classic cars, ground clearance can be adjusted using different Distance Nuts. The small exhaust manifold diameter of the MALOSSI cylinders can be compensated for with the exhaust bushing kit . Don’t forget the M10 nut for the exhaust bolt.

Note: JL Exhausts has been struggling with a sharp rise in material and personnel costs for some time now. Customs duties, bureaucratic hurdles and a shortage of skilled workers are making production even more difficult and expensive. Unfortunately, this will lead to a price increase for all models from 07/2025. We have been able to mitigate the adjustment for the most common racing exhaust systems, but some models will be permanently removed from the range.
The exhaust systems are still manufactured by hand in Europe to the highest quality standards. Low noise development, high durability, a striking racing look thanks to clean weld seams and high-quality materials such as stainless steel continue to speak for these exhaust systems.
