OWATROL Oil is used for Rust sealing, as a paint additive or wood protection.
It has an extremely low surface tension. OWATROL Oil is three times "wetter" than water. As a result, it wets substrates optimally, displaces moisture and air from rust pores, penetrates even through thick layers of rust to the sound metal, dries completely even in thick layers and repels loose layers of rust, so-called leaf rust.
OWATROL Oil is particularly suitable for critical areas that are difficult to reach mechanically, e.g. overlaps, riveted or screwed parts and decorated or ornate surfaces. It can also be used as temporary protection for stainless components, for example during transportation. OWATROL Oil can be recoated with alkyd, Oil or synthetic resin paints.
Clean the substrate mechanically, remove non-adherent coatings and loose rust. Do not remove adhering rust, as this is a prerequisite for optimum performance.
Before brushing over, roughen old coats mechanically, e.g. with a Wire Brush or sandpaper, so that OWATROL Oil can penetrate.
Apply OWATROL Oil generously, if necessary in several wet-on-wet coats, until the entire thickness of the existing rust has been saturated and filled. Avoid film formation. An optimally sealed surface appears silky matt. Allow to Dryer for at least 24 hours at 20 °C or 7 days at 0 °C before applying a subsequent coat.
Areas that have only been protected with OWATROL Oil without subsequent coating must be supplemented from time to time with a further application of OWATROL Oil, depending on weathering. This is the case as soon as the first rust peaks emerge from the coating and the surface no longer appears uniformly silky matt.
125 ml is sufficient for approx. 1 m².
500 ml is sufficient for approx. 4-8 m².
