The Reed Valve Block connects the Intake Manifold and engine block and controls the intake process. When the Piston moves upwards, negative pressure is created in the crankcase: The Reed Valve Petals open and the petrol/oil mixture flows in through the Reed Valve Block. When the Piston moves down again, overpressure is created, the mixture is precompressed and the Reed Valve Petals close. This prevents the mixture from flowing back. Thanks to the flow-optimized passage, a racing reed valve block is one of the basic components in engine tuning.
