Radial Oil Seals reliably seal rotating shafts and are essential for every Vespa engine. They sit securely in the Casing, while the sealing lip is pressed against the shaft by a Spring. As a wear part, they must be replaced during every engine overhaul, as long periods of inactivity or high idle speeds typically cause damage. Defective Sealing Rings can manifest as high-revving Engines (LIMA side) or Gasoline in the Gearbox Oil (KULU side). SIP offers various materials, such as NBR and FKM, suitable for different temperatures, operating conditions, and original applications.

Radial Oil Seals are available in various designs: Black and blue NBR seals—often from CORTECO—offer high elasticity and match many original parts. Brown FKM Sealing Rings withstand high temperatures up to 160 °C and exhibit increased abrasion and oil resistance, making them ideal for heavily stressed 2-stroke engines. They are installed with the open side facing the higher-pressure area, ensuring that the sealing lip is optimally pressed against the shaft.
