The Air Filter prevents the carburettor from sucking in dirt particles, which can damage the carburettor and Engine and reduce mileage. It should be cleaned regularly and replaced during a major service.

PIAGGIO can still supply Air Filters for the SHBC 19.19 (PV/ET3) and SHBC 18.16 (Ape 50). The Ape Air Filter can also be fitted to the SHBC 19.19 Vespa Carburettor in conjunction with longer studs. As original Air Filters are no longer available for the 16 Carburettors, these have been reissued as SIP spare parts.
