Simple ring for locking the variator adjustment function. With the variator locked, true engine performance diagrams can be recorded, i.e., power P over speed n. Without locking the variator, modern Vespas and Scootermatic vehicles can usually only be measured with power over speed. Although the latter is sufficient to determine the power level, it does not reveal the engine characteristics, power and torque curves.
