STC is short for 'Seamless Transmission Clutch'. This describes the steady, even clutch engagement that it provides once fitted. This advantage is due to its special, innovative construction. Whereas the frictional operation of most automatic clutch types saps power from the transmission, the REVENO STC clutch set up eliminates this problem. When it rotates the internal roller weights, similar to a variomatic transmission pulley, are pulled away from the centre of the clutch by centrifugal force. This causes the inner clutch plate come into contact with the friction plates and further transmit the motors power. The rpm at which the clutch engages can be adjusted by exchanging the roller weights with those of a different weight.
Alongside its function and construction this clutch also has a couple more features than most clutch types.
The manufacturer promises clutch operation completely free of vibration and power loss through friction.
Vibration free:
The construction of the STC clutch is similar in appearance to those found on modern sports motorcycles. Due to their CNC machined components they are very finely and evenly balanced, eliminating vibration.
Frictional power-loss eliminated:
Their construction ensures the motors complete power is transmitted directly through the clutch, with absolutely no frictional power-loss possible!
This clutch has a strong resemblance to the clutch/plate arrangement currently employed in the motorcycle sector, although technically speaking they are worlds apart. Nevertheless, while the scooter is ticking over with one of these fitted they sound eerily like the dry clutches used on sports Ducati motorcycles.
While common clutch types wear over time and require eventual servicing and replacement, the STC clutch allows both the plates and springs to be changed without having to replace the whole clutch mechanism.
SIP-TIP: Do not forget to order holding tools and a new shaft fixing bolt for the clutch bell.
