Product description
Riding over all surfaces! Thanks to their full suspension system the IO HAWK 'EXIT CROSS 2.0' E-Scooters are also good for jumps and stunts! The new EXIT CROSS 2.0 series has just been extended to include the MAXX and MAXX Light versions, including off-road capabilities!
IO HAWK, the inventors and producers of the amazing 'Hoverboard' have done it again! This time they have once more surprised and delighted us with the introduction of their latest innovation – The 'EXIT CROSS 2.0' personal transport solution, already a clear winner in numerous independent comparative testing reports. The design of the new MAXX models is strongly reminiscent of their EXIT CROSS Exclusive' E-Scooter, with slight differences in their appearance. Instead of the carbon fibre look found on the 'Exclusive' model, they are decorated exclusively in a fetching shade of black. The MAXX Light, as its name might suggest, is not equipped with the complete set of components found on its sister model. It does without the GPS module, the vehicle immobiliser unit and the remote control key device. Its most distinguishing feature as opposed to their 'EXIT CROSS Premium' model is the inclusion of a front fork suspension, which is noticeably more effective than its own central suspension system. The MAXX variety includes all of the, usually optional, extras available for E-Scooters. A high quality suspension for both the front and rear wheels, fully hydraulic brakes, anti-theft alarm, GPS module, full-colour display and much more besides round up the already generous package of specifications of the 'EXIT CROSS 2.0 E-Scooter'. A high end electric kick-scooter of superlatives, at the top of the tree in this market segment.
The key features of the 'EXIT CROSS MAXX and MAXX Light':
- Robust E-Scooters with off-road capabilities
- Powerful 500W motor
- 15.6wH rechargeable battery, max. range 52km
- Fully hydraulic front and rear brakes
- Large 2.8” diagonal colour display with instrument cluster and USB connectivity
- Anti-theft security key, GPS tracing feature (not included with MAXX Light)
Off-road adventures? You bet!
The EXIT CROSS 2.0 weighs in at a respectable 22Kg, but rewards with extra power. The 500W rated axially-mounted rear wheel motor ensures a solid acceleration and even manages inclines of up to 20% with ease. The footboard is almost twice as wide as the type found on most E-Scooters and guarantees a safe posture and relaxed stance. In addition its front fork telescopic suspension together with the rear shock absorber provide considerably smoother riding experience. In combination with the 10” cross-style semi-knobbly tyres a genuine off-road feeling with an optimal grip and handling under wet conditions! Speaking of the weather: Thanks to its IP54 certification and the ultra-robust style of construction this E-Scooter can be used for even safer travel through rainy, or even snowy, conditions! The two hydraulic brakes play an important role in this and bring the scooter to a dependable and rapid halt.
Electronic features of the EXIT CROSS MAXX
Both the MAXX and MAXX Light inform the rider of the current road speed, remaining range, battery charge status, along with your current average speed, etc. with a large 2.8” screen display. The comprehensive app software for your smartphone to be connected with the scooter enables riding info to be sent via Bluetooth communication. To ensure your phone also remains fully charged the USB connection delivers power. The E-Scooters 15.6wH battery in combination with the smart battery management system (BMS) enables a total potential range of a whopping 52km on one single battery charge!
The MAXX (unfortunatly not the MAXX Light) has another nice feature: The integrated anti-theft technology helps prevent unauthorised removal of the MAXX, following deactivation of the electronics by blocking the rotation of both wheels. The remote control key device delivered with this E-Scooter is used to lock and unlock its functions and also de/activate the alarm system. The integrated GPS module realises a real-time tracing of the E-Scooters route and localisation of its current position. Should the E-Scooter be used by family members or close friends, you can constantly and uninterruptedly be informed of their progress and position. Once the scooter is then required for further use you can also be sure of its parking position! In case of unauthorised removal, the GPS feature ensures it will be found!
And then there was light!
The excellent specifications of the EXIT-CROSS have been continued by IO HAWK with the level of vehicle lighting they have included. All models are fitted with very bright LED illumination at both the front and rear ends. Additionally a brake light has also been included for heightened safety in traffic. The indicators integrated into the ends of the handlebars also provide an essential solution to avoid dangerous single-handed steering while hand-signalling a change in direction.
Entry, Premium, Exclusive, MAXX and MAXX Light: Here their main differences
There are a total of five varieties of the IO HAWK EXIT-CROSS E-Scooters: The Entry, Premium, Exclusive and both MAXX models. All of these received an extra helping of extra specifications when compared to their predecessor from 2019, the ever-popular IO HAWK I.6.. This E-Scooter was already amongst the top four most popular following its introduction to the German market. An important deciding factor for this success is always the battery capacity. While the Premium, Exclusive and MAXX types extract a full 748.8wH and up to a 52km range from their battery and motor, the Entry E-Scooter makes do with a smaller set up of 499wH and a 30km maximum range. There is also a significant difference between their braking systems. The Entry model has mechanical disc brakes, whereas the Premium is equipped with a hydraulic front brake. The Exclusive and both MAXX models however have hydraulic brakes fitted front and rear. The Exclusive and MAXX models are also packed with extensive electronic features, such as GPS, anti-theft alarm and a vehicle immobiliser.
Here is a brief overview of the different variants:
- Entry: battery 492 Wh, 30km range, mechanical brakes
- Premium: Battery 748.8 Wh, 52km range, 1 disc brake
- Exclusive: Battery 748.8 Wh, 52km range, 2 disc brakes
- MAXX Light: Battery 748.8 Wh, 52km range, 2 disc brakes, front fork suspension
- MAXX: Battery 748.8 Wh, 52km range, 2 disc brakes, front fork suspension, GPS, alarm system, immobilizer
Conclusion: The EXIT CROSS MAXX literally ticks all the boxes when it comes to desired specifications. A high end, realistic off-road feeling combined with numerous top-spec technical features and an impressive appearance. If the electronics are not really your main priority, the MAXX Light presents itself as the perfect alternative!

Feedback from the scene
www.ntv.de (31.07.2019): “The IO Hawk Exit-Cross doesn't mind getting dirty and it's also quite tough due to the very effective shock absorbers and the fat knobbly tyres. This equipment allows routes over meadows, off-road or on beaches, but also easily masters the notorious cobble-stoned streets of Berlin, whereas riders of hired E-Scooters get really shaken up.”
www.adac.de (ADAC E-Scooter test, 12.11.2019): “True quality comes at a price – rated 2.5, Good! Third place for the IO Hawk Exit-Cross in the comprehensive ADAC E-Scooter comparison testing”.
GRIP, The German TV motoring magazine on RTL II (latest E-Scooter test, episode 494): “The best in the test! Not only the largest range and surging with power, but also superb value-for-money!”.
www.scooter-bible.de (Test): “This E-Scooter is something special. The Exit-Cross is just right for E-Scooter fans that prefer not to stick to the roads and don't mind the off-road experience.”
www.stern.de “ IO Hawk Exit-Cross – This E-Scooter charges over the countryside. Its wide rubber tyres also promote safer riding on the road and bike-paths, apart from of this you can have even more fun in other environments as the Hawk is also capable of transporting the rider safely over farm-tracks, gravel pathways and through parks with no problems!”
