Brake Drums are safety-relevant wear parts and should be replaced if the running surface is worn or corroded.

Whoever brakes, wins - and not just frequent drivers. Even infrequent drivers need properly functioning brakes at all times. Worn or corroded drums as well as glazed or oily linings can massively impair the braking effect and are a real safety risk. For this reason, the Brake Drum should be checked as part of every service - and worn drums should always be replaced for optimum braking performance and safety.

Brake Drums differ depending on their design: The model designations include the shape of the Rim, as well as the size in inches (8", 9" or 10") and open or closed. Experience has shown that rear Brake Drum are replaced more frequently. The diameter of the shaft seal seat is also important here to prevent Gearbox Oil from entering the Brake Drum. Many Brake Drum are still "Made in Italy".
