D.R./OLYMPIA 177 cc gray-cast iron cylinder—a reliable all-rounder with plenty of power reserves for everyday riding, touring, and long-distance trips.
The big brother of the D.R. 135 offers significantly more displacement and power reserves for everyday use. Compared to smaller 2-overflow cylinders, the 177 delivers noticeably more power even at higher RPMs. The additional secondary exhaust ports, among other features, contribute to this. The moderate compression ratio ensures smooth temperature behavior and makes the cylinder an attractive choice for longer tours.

The D.R. 177 can initially be run on crankcases with only two overflow ports if the third overflow port in the Cylinder is sealed with a Gasket. Even in this configuration, there is a significant increase in power compared to the stock setup.
In combination with a POLINI Cylinder Head and intake ports adapted to POLINI 177 specifications, the setup can be further enhanced. Longer primary ratios and exhaust systems such as the SITO Plus or SIP T5 have proven effective. For setups with higher revs, the GRAND-SPORT Piston and an MMW MALOSSI Cylinder Head are recommended.
The OLYMPIA 177 is identical in construction to the D.R. 177 and can be used as an alternative if the D.R. is not available.

- Adjust the Main Jet and use a new W4AC Spark Plug. The ignition timing is approximately 19°, depending on the setup. Recommended combinations include SI 24/24 carburettors, SITO Plus or SIP Road, a longer final drive ratio, a racing crankshaft, and SIP PERFORMANCE Ignition or HP4. For more performance-oriented setups, larger carburettors and matching resonance exhaust systems are also worth considering.
