The Different Versions
The RB20 fits the crankcases of the 125, 150, and 175 Lambretta models—that is, the small-block engines.
The RB22, the direct successor to the TS1, is designed for the 200cc engine block and has the same 70 mm bore.
The RB24 also has a 70 mm bore but is designed for an extra-long stroke of 62 mm.
The RB25 allows for even greater displacement. The bore is 72 mm. For installation, the casing of the Lambretta 200 models must be tapped at the base.
With the RB Racing Cylinders, several modern features are introduced into the Lambretta Engines. The RB cylinders are equipped with a large Reed Valve whose dies are arranged in two rows. This increases the effective surface area of the Reed Valve. To ensure that the additional surface area can be utilized, two Boysen ports lead from the Reed Valve chamber to the overflow ports.
The port layout also offers more surface area than the previous model, though it varies among the different variants.
