Clutch for Vespa Smallframe: Design, variants and installation instructions
Clutches are one of the most important components of an Engine and ensure the frictional connection between the Crankshaft and the gearbox. In order to transmit more power, higher friction is required in the clutch: Stronger Springs increase the contact pressure, more linings increase the friction surface. All Clutch Friction Plates can be combined with Reinforcement Springs that match the engine type.
Most of our clutches come from the traditional companies FERODO or NEWFREN, which have been manufacturing clutches for Vespa models for decades. The clutch for the Vespa 50-125 / PV / ET3 / PK50-125 / S / XL Models has a strong central spring and is supplied ready to install with basket, linings and separating discs.
The standard Clutch has 3 cork linings and is suitable for original Engines. The Sport has 4 cork linings and a Reinforcement Spring - a good choice for lightly tuned Engines and useful for Cylinder or Exhaust updates. The Race is equipped with 4 carbon linings; they are more heat-resistant, have a better grinding-in behavior and are the ideal choice for more heavily tuned smallframes.
Note: The Clutch Friction Plates should be soaked in Oil for one night before fitting.
SIP-TIP:
- New Woodruff Key, new clutch nut and new Locking Washer are mandatory. Reinforced Springs and reinforced Clutch Friction Plates are recommended for tuned Engines. Don't forgetSAE30 Gearbox Oil for the overnight clutch lining bath.
