The highest demands are placed on spark plugs, especially in the scooter sector with relatively small displacements and high engine speeds. Overheating with the risk of sticking or sooting of the spark plug are common problems if the wrong spark plug is selected.
Spark plugs are available in different heat values (indicated as a number in the type code and differing from manufacturer to manufacturer), materials (e.g. copper, silver, platinum) and in a number of common standard sizes, which differ in length, diameter and thread.

Suppressed spark plugs
These spark plugs make sense when using Rev Counters, for example. Radio frequencies from cell phones, radios etc. are also not affected. However, they can only be used to a limited extent with weak Ignitions. They are marked with an "R" in the spark plug designation.
Cooler Spark Plugs
These are suitable for Racing Cylinders and for long-distance use. They provide good heat transfer to the Cylinder Head, but there is a risk of sooting.
Warmer spark plugs
They are used for sports and standard cylinders. These spark plugs reach their operating temperature quickly, but can overheat.
Spark plugs with a copper core
The best-selling spark plugs and the all-purpose weapon in everyday scooter use. Quickly reaching operating temperature, lasting performance, optimum response to frequently changing operating conditions, e.g. in city traffic and, last but not least, fuel savings are the key words. The copper core of the center electrode dissipates heat well and thus protects against thermal overload. The nickel-chromium alloy protects the copper core from corrosion and ensures high wear resistance against spark erosion.
Note: Most Spark Plugs for scooters have a thread of M14x1.25 SW 20.8 and differ by long thread (19mm) and short thread (12.7mm).
Caution: A long-thread spark plug in a Cylinder Head for short threads leads to piston damage.
Manufacturer
We have quality spark plugs from DENSO, NGK and CHAMPION in our range. NGK and DENSO are Japanese manufacturers. CHAMPION is an American manufacturer and original equipment manufacturer for Vespa.
Spark Plugs from E3, which we have been stocking since August 2021, also come from the USA: The unique architecture of the ground electrode creates more turbulence in the fuel-air mixture, promoting faster growth and a larger flame core. By burning the fuel more completely, more fuel is burned with less waste, resulting in more power and better fuel efficiency.
Note: BOSCH unfortunately exited the two-wheel Spark Plug business worldwide at the end of 2018. However, we offer alternatives from NGK, Denso, Champion or E3 for all BOSCH spark plugs.
