BITUBO Shock Absorbers for classic Vespa: More control, more safety
Shock Absorbers that are too soft can easily bottom out and quickly make for an unsafe riding experience when cornering or at high speeds. Sport Shock Absorbers are a significant chassis improvement here. BITUBO has been offering Vespa riders stylish and effective Shock Absorbers for decades. The extensive racing experience that BITUBO has gained in the motorcycle Grand Prix, among other things, flows into the development process. The high quality standard is guaranteed by testing each individual shock absorber. BITUBO also supplies TÜV parts certificates for many models, enabling legal, TÜV-compliant use on the road.
The following BITUBO variants are available for classic Vespa models:
Sport
The entry-level model from BITUBO is a hydraulic oil shock absorber specially developed for the Vespa. The PPS system (Progressive Pressure System = progressive damping system) has been included in all BITUBO Silencers since 2009 and ensures optimum operation even when riding with a passenger. The Spring is progressive and the spring preload is infinitely adjustable. The Silencers are supplied with TÜV Approval.
Classic Sport
This particularly beautiful Shock Absorber was unrivaled for a long time. The nitrogen-filled gas pressure shock absorber has a large, external Fluid Reservoir - for optimum damping behavior even under high thermal loads. The compression stage can be adjusted in 12 stages. The Spring is progressive and the spring preload is infinitely adjustable. The YAV/YZV series was supplied with a red body and red Springs. This classic race look was discontinued by BITUBO and has since been produced in small series exclusively for SIP SCOOTERSHOP. All Silencers are supplied with TÜV Approval.
Racing
The YEV/YLV Shock Absorbers replace the Classic Sport, but are almost identical to their predecessors. The damper body is now in aggressive black and the compression setting has been changed slightly. TÜV Approval is already available for some models.
Note: BITUBO Shock Absorbers must not be filled with air. The Valves on the Shock Absorber are for initial filling only.
Conclusion: Very nice shock absorbers that noticeably improve every Vespa chassis.
SIP-TIP:
- Replace the Rubber Engine Mounting Bushs, ordera new rear shock absorber screw (PX models require this screw) and Distance Nut. If you are optimizing the suspension, you should also consider a Disc Brake.
Feedback
“A great classic—the look has always been second to none, and you can adjust the Silencer and still ride with the old Mudguard.”
