Petrol tank for Vespa Smallframe models. As a replacement or upgrade with larger volume.
Anyone who has ever painstakingly derusted their tank with a tank deruster or broken glass and then resealed it will sing the praises of the new tank. The effort involved in derusting bears no relation to the low price of the new tank.
- Available for all models
- Perfect replacement for restorations
- Also available as XL version
We carry original tanks from LML and PIAGGIO. In addition, tanks are remanufactured in premium quality in cooperation with a master craftsman in sheet metal handwork. These are made according to original samples. They fit perfectly, are primed or oiled and need not fear comparison with the originals.
There are two main families of tanks for the Vespa Smallframe models. Those for the older models V50, ET3, PV etc. and the tanks for the Vespa PK.
Tank V50/PV/ET3
The tanks of the older models are divided into first and second series. The first series had a tank with a capacity of 5.2 litres. With the introduction of the second series, the tank capacity increased to 5.6 litres. Unfortunately, the tanks of the two series cannot be interchanged because the cut-out in the frame also grew with the new tank. Models that were equipped with a swing saddle needed a special tank with a thread for its attachment.
PK tanks
The tanks of the Vespa PK models all have the same volume: 5.8 litres (except for the tanks of the PK automatic models, which had different tanks). However, the cap and connections changed during the production period. Early PK models, like the early Vespa Largeframe models, had a cap with a bracket and screw. Later this was replaced by a fuel cap with a bayonet catch. PK XL Lusso and PK XL2 models had a fuel gauge. Their tanks are equipped with a hole for mounting.
XL tanks
We also offer various XL tanks. They use the space that is actually intended for the tool compartment. Depending on the manufacturer and design, tank volumes of up to 7.5 litres can be achieved. The optimal choice for touring riders.
The fuel tap
Basically, the same fuel taps are installed in the Vespa Smallframe as in the Vespa Largeframe. They only differ in length and shape of the levers. With tuned scooters, it is also worth using a Fast Flow petrol tap here.
Conclusion: a new tank saves a lot of time and nerves. For a stylish restoration, we offer original replacement and XL tanks for all models.
The right preparation - our SIP-TIP:
- Test-fit the tank before painting to avoid damaging the paintwork.
- Whether primed or oiled: every new tank must be carefully cleaned before use, e.g. with brake cleaner.
- A new fuel tap is always recommended.
