Replacing the Fuel Tap: reliable supply instead of a lack of fuel
If the Fuel Tap becomes dirty and clogged with residue over the years, it supplies too little fuel to the Carburettor. In the worst case scenario, this can lead to a piston jamming, especially when driving at full throttle. A leaking Fuel Tap also has unpleasant side effects: The Carburettor fills up uncontrollably and the scooter is difficult to start. In both cases, replacing the Fuel Tap provides a quick and reliable remedy.
Fuel Taps for all common small and largeframe models are available in our range. Original Fuel Taps for Wideframe models are no longer available - however, taps from the 60s models (e.g. VBB) with lens/metal filter can be used here. A different Fuel Tap Lever (see table) must be installed and adapted if necessary.
Models without a fuel level indicator in the speedometer are equipped as standard with a fuel tap with reserve position (marked "R" on the Fuel Tap Lever). The general rule is: Lever to the left "C" (Italian "chiuso" = closed), open in the middle, right "R" (reserve). If the Lever is set to "Reserve", the fuel - depending on consumption - is often sufficient for approx. 30 km.
Conclusion: Ideal replacement if the original Fuel Tap is dirty or leaking.
SIP TIP:
- A Fuel Tap Removal Wrench makes installation easier - it's best to order one at the same time. Don't forget a new Fuel Hose!
Installation Note for Models with a Standard Fuel Gauge: For models that already come equipped with a standard Fuel Gauge and are to be converted to Fast Flow, a new Fuel Tap with an electronic reserve indicator is not required. In this case, simply install the SIP Fast Flow 2.0. The fuel level signal is picked up via the Wiring Loom.
