Overview SYM

SYM Sanyang Engine Corporation was founded in 1954 in Sanyang, China, and originally produced scooters and mopeds for the Chinese market under licence for Honda. The name of the company means "Three Suns Scooter". in 1994, SYM ventured into Europe and began selling its vehicles in Switzerland. To strengthen its presence in Europe, where it was still considered a niche brand, SYM opened a production facility on the continent. Since 2006, sales of Sanyang scooters have been rising steadily. The company has positioned itself against other scooter manufacturers by offering competitive prices. SYM offers not only scooters, but also motorbikes and quads. Today, the Taiwanese group is one of the largest manufacturers in the two-wheeler industry with over 1,000,000 vehicles produced.

SYM model history

SYM's entry-level model was the 50 cc Symply, which was one of the manufacturer's lightest scooters, weighing just under 100 kilograms. With the retro models Sym Fiddle and Sym Allo, Sanyang launched scooters with a classic look. The Sym Mio, the Sym Jet BasiX and the naked version Sym Orbit were in the style of modern city scooters. Sports scooters from SYM included the Red Devil, Jet4 and the Jet SportX scooter. The Sym Symphony was presented as a maxi scooter with 16-inch tyres. Most scooters in the 50 cc class from SYM were also available in a throttled moped version.
