Overview SACHS

SACHS Bikes was founded in 1995 from the former Hercules-Werke GmbH, a manufacturer of motorbikes and bicycles from Nuremberg. Hercules had already become the property of the Schweinfurt-based Fichtel & Sachs Group in 1958. When Fichtel & Sachs was fully integrated into the Mannesmann Group in 1991, the latter sold the bicycle division and the Hercules brand to the ATAG Cycle Group from the Netherlands in 1995, which is now known as the Accell Group. The motorbike division was continued under the new name SACHS Fahrzeug- und Motorentechnik GmbH and the motorbikes were sold under the brand name Sachs Bikes from then on.

In October 2000, the ownership of SACHS Fahrzeug- und Motorentechnik GmbH changed to HSS Verwaltungs GmbH. in 2002, the company produced a small series of the Münch Mammut 2000 for Münch Motorrad Technik GmbH in Würzburg. However, SACHS Bikes had to file for insolvency in June 2006. Following a management buy-out on 1 January 2007, in which the management took over the company, the new Guidance aimed to establish the brand more strongly in the scooter sector. The insolvency proceedings were terminated in 2008 and the company was renamed SFM GmbH.

SACHS model history

The development of the various models under constantly changing names is just as eventful as the company's history: Madass, Bee, Eagle, 49er - to name just a few. Today, even bicycles and e-bikes are produced under the SACHS name.
