Overview PGO

As one of the first manufacturers of scooters in Taiwan, PGO laid the foundations for its current activities back in 1964. It has been part of the Taiwan Tea Company since 1996. In the ten years between 1972 and 1982, PGO underwent considerable further development, which was made possible by the technical partnership with the Italian company Piaggio. During this time, PGO transformed itself from a supplier of "simple" Chinese scooters to a developer of innovative designs. Today, PGO is known for its high-quality scooters, which have a large following worldwide. PGO scooters are particularly popular in Austria. The origin of the name PGO is the abbreviation of the name Piaggio.

PGO model history

The latest models are equipped with the second generation of electronic injection systems and fulfil the high requirements of the EURO 3 standard, a strict emissions standard. Depending on their individual needs, customers can choose from scooters with engines ranging from 50 cc to 150 cc, which are available in both 2-stroke and 4-stroke versions. A special feature of PGO is the in-house production of their engines, which allows them to guarantee greater control over the quality and performance of their products. In this regard, PGO also offers proven replicas of the Italian Minarelli engines, which are known for their robustness and reliability.

The flagship of the PGO scooter fleet in the 1990s was undoubtedly the PGO Roller Star 50 AC, which was produced between around 1990 and 1996. This model stands out clearly with its angular design, which bears little resemblance to the Simpson Star. In terms of popularity, the Star 50 AC is closely followed by the Big Max 50 AC and PGO Hot 50 AC models, which have a significant presence in the scooter landscape and are the brand's most frequently ridden scooters. Other models such as the T-Rex 50 AC, G-Max 50 AC and Tornado 50 AC also managed to gain a following, but only achieved about half the popularity of their prominent siblings. In PGO's newer range, the G-Star and Ligero models in particular are currently enjoying great popularity, with the Ligero positioned as the successor to the Comet/Galaxy 50 series and well received by buyers.
