Austrian Chancellor is a Vespa fan

Since 3 March 2025, our dear friends from neighbouring Austria have had a new Federal Chancellor - MP Christian Stocker, previously Secretary General of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) for three years. He had previously been a member of the National Council since 2019 and Secretary General of the ÖVP from September 2022 to January 2025. Born in Vienna, he obtained his doctorate in law in 1988 and has been working as an independent lawyer since 1994.

When he's not steering the fortunes of the Alpine Republic, the married father of two (64) not only likes to go fly fishing or share his passion for the saxophone with Bill Clinton, but photos are circulating on Facebook and Instagram showing the new strong man manoeuvring around Wiener Neustadt on a Vespa GTS and announcing: "What many people don't know: I'm a keen Vespa rider in my spare time!"
Claudia Plakolm, State Secretary for Youth and Civilian Service at the Austrian Federal Chancellery, knew how to capitalise on this fact when she presented her new boss with the famous Lego Vespa, which is also very popular in our range. However, this was not a GTS, but a Vespa 125 from 1960, and so that the Chancellor did not have to waste his valuable time assembling the set, Mrs Plakolm had already put the model together herself - hopefully not during her working hours.
The light blue beauty, the Vespa, now stands prominently on the Chancellor's desk and should remind his guests that it can often be useful to wear a Helmet. On the Vespa on the one hand, and in many other situations in life on the other. The fact is: we are delighted and wish you a safe and pleasant journey.
