1 - Why your e-bike needs love now
Winter leaves behind more than just salt crusts: moisture creeps into bearings, mud settles in the drive and road salt accelerates corrosion. Thorough care at the start of the 2025 season therefore not only ensures a shiny exterior, but also extends the service life of all components, maintains the range and at the same time preserves warranty and leasing claims.
2 - Preparation: workplace & material
Set up a shaded washing area with two buckets, soft brushes and a microfibre cloth. You don't have to look far for the Cleaner: SONAX Bike Cleaner gently removes even stubborn winter dirt - it can be used on carbon, aluminium and matt painted frames. The absorbent SIP Microfibre Cloth is perfect for wiping off - it leaves no streaks.
3 - Step-by-step cleaning
First remove the Battery and Display and seal the contacts. Then rinse off any coarse dirt with a gentle jet of water. Now spray SONAX Bike Cleaner onto the Frame, Rim and drivetrain, leave it to work for two to three minutes and then remove the dirt with the washing brush. The microfibre cloth helps with wiping; its high polyester and polyamide content absorbs moisture and cleaner residues quickly without causing scratches.
4 - Chain and drive maintenance
After rinsing, it's the chain's turn: spray the drive with BALLISTOL Chain Cleaner, crank backwards and the dirt simply drips off. Lubrication follows after Dryer: The finely dosed SONAX BIKE ultra Chain Oil creates a water- and dust-repellent film over each chain link and protects against wear. Remove any excess Oil with the microfibre cloth - this keeps the drivetrain silky smooth and clean.
5 - Brakes, bearings & gaskets
Brake Discs should only be degreased with isopropanol or a special Brake Cleaner. All Rubber and plastic seals, on the other hand, will appreciate a touch of SONAX Silicone Spray EasySpray; the colourless silicone maintains, protects against drying out and displaces moisture - thanks to the double Spray head, it even gets into tight spaces.
6 - Battery and electronics check
Once the frame and drive are shiny, it's time to check the electronics. Check the contacts for corrosion, spray on an acid- and resin-free Contact Spray, allow it to flash off briefly and then replace the Battery and Display. Many 2025 models allow a charging limit of 80% in the manufacturer's app; use this to protect the cell chemistry. A firmware update also ensures optimised range calculation.
7 - Preservation & test ride
Dry your bike thoroughly, apply a thin film of wax to the Paint and check all safety-relevant Screws with the Torque Key. Then it's time for the first test ride: check the braking performance, shifting precision and the noise of the Engine - after the fresh cell treatment, everything should run almost silently.
8 - Smart packing on the road
