Stainless steel Racing Exhaust SIP PERFORMANCE Curly, developed with JIM LOMAS, for powerful Vespa tuning engines.
The SIP Basterd initially raced with the French RS PERFORMANCE Curly, but delivery problems and a preference for stainless steel tipped the scales in favor of developing the SIP PERFORMANCE Curly. JIM LOMAS reworked the existing RZ Righthand in such a way that the system is visually reminiscent of smallframe Racing Exhausts. Noise and performance values correspond to the SIP PERFORMANCE Lefthand systems, while at the same time the design ensures enormous ground clearance in left-hand bends. The spare wheel holder and Side Panels with Glovebox are not required for installation.

The SIP PERFORMANCE Curly is a hand-welded stainless steel Racing Exhaust consisting of many segments, whose strongly "curled" shape is reminiscent of classic smallframe racing systems and gives the scooter a unique look. The basis is the proven RZ Righthand, whose layout was adapted by JIM LOMAS so that the performance and noise characteristics correspond to the SIP PERFORMANCE Lefthand systems. The raised Guidance gives the vehicle significantly more ground clearance in left-hand bends - ideal for sporty driving styles. For design reasons, there is no spare wheel and Side Panels with Glovebox, but the Centre Stand can still be used. The jetting and ignition settings should always be checked and adjusted to the setup before inserting.
Conclusion: The SIP PERFORMANCE Curly combines a stainless steel look, rich performance and plenty of ground clearance to create an uncompromisingly sporty exhaust system.
SIP TIP:
- 139cc and larger Cylinders benefit from a 24 Carburettor. A longer gear ratio, a 28+ Carburettor and a Reinforcement Clutch are also recommended for performance-oriented setups.
Note: JL Exhausts has been struggling with a sharp rise in material and personnel costs for some time now. Customs duties, bureaucratic hurdles and a shortage of skilled workers are making production even more difficult and expensive. Unfortunately, this will lead to a price increase for all models from 07/2025. We have been able to mitigate the adjustment for the most common racing exhaust systems, but some models will be permanently removed from the range.
The exhaust systems are still manufactured by hand in Europe to the highest quality standards. Low noise development, high durability, a striking racing look thanks to clean weld seams and high-quality materials such as stainless steel continue to speak for these exhaust systems.
