The VOLSPEED V5 Tuning Chip for e-bikes and pedelecs equipped with GIANT SyncDrive Sport, Pro, Life, and Core engines removes the standard 25 km/h speed limit and enables motor assistance up to 45 km/h. The module is installed on the drive motor so it’s invisible from the outside and simply plugs in. No wires need to be damaged or modified. All settings are conveniently adjusted via the e-bike’s Display.

The VOLSPEED V5 module initializes automatically after installation and is ready to go right away. The tuning can be turned on and off via the control unit on the handlebars. After turning it on, the cut-off speed can be freely adjusted between 25 and 45 km/h using the arrow keys. The last selected value remains saved.
A major advantage is the accurate display of ride data. Speed, distance traveled, and average speed continue to be displayed correctly. The e-bike’s total mileage also remains accurate, as the kilometers are tracked in the motor control unit. In addition, the wheel circumference can be adjusted by +/-10% to improve the accuracy of speed and distance measurements.
Dynamic mode ensures a smoother cut-off at the set speed limit. This makes the otherwise abrupt cessation of motor assistance significantly more seamless. An individually adjustable activation code protects the module from unauthorized use. When the e-bike is turned on, the tuning is initially deactivated.

Note: The Tuning Chip plugs directly into the engine’s electrical connections. These are located in the upper part of the drive. Depending on the model, the connections may already be accessible once the lower motor cover has been removed. If this is not the case, the engine must also be detached from the frame.
For SyncDrive Sport, Life, and Core engines, the drive unit is attached to the frame on the left side with three screws. These can usually be easily loosened. With the SyncDrive Pro, however, the engine is secured with two screws on the left and two on the right. The right-side screws are often obscured by the chainring. Therefore, the chainring often needs to be removed to gain access.
Depending on the model, you can either detach the chainring from the spider or remove the chainring along with the spider. For the second option, you’ll need a special tool to loosen the locking ring and an ISIS Puller.
